Path Planning for 5-Axis CMM Inspection Considering Path Reuse

The 5-axis Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) is widely used for quality data collection of the machining parts, such as cylinder blocks and heads engines. High efficient inspection path planning multiple feature groups from different stations one key tasks CMM application. In engineering practice, diverse accounts large labor cost process development cycle. To improve efficiency generation complex part, a five-axis method considering length, probe rotation reusability proposed. Firstly, measuring points (MPs) are classified based on feasible direction cone accessibility MPs to achieve minimum times rotation. Then, rapidly exploring random trees with multi-root node (RRT-MRNC) algorithm proposed implement local reuse. Furthermore, intra-group inter-group generated simultaneously enhanced Genetic Algorithm (GA) algorithm. order evaluate effectiveness method, block case used. Compared benchmark methods, total time dynamic was reduced by 55.2% 54.9% respectively.
